Inspired by summer\u2019s riotous display of colours I decided to play matchmaking with my eyes. Aided by a bunch of eyeliner pencils<\/p>\n

YAY! After a never-ending gloomy winter, I really long for colours everywhere. And why not begin with the eyes \u2013 notorious mirror of our souls ?<\/p>\n

That means: bright eyes = bright soul?? Now that I think about it, the implications are mind-boggling ?<\/p>\n

Back to the topic of my blog: I have a few ideas which should appeal to the laziest persons, that is, how to achieve a special look without working too hard.<\/p>\n

The easiest way for the eyes is simply using an eyeliner, still better, an eyeliner pencil.<\/p>\n

In the pictures shown here, I used mostly eyeliners from Urban Decay. This company offers 45 different long-lasting colours, which makes it really easy to choose from.<\/p>\n

Speaking of eyeliner pencils, I wish to add a couple of comments:<\/p>\n

Urban Decay eyeliner pencil in Electric<\/p><\/div>\n

As I said, Urban Decay\u00a0<\/strong>offers the largest range of colours known to me. Their pencils are very creamy (I am really worrying if they are going to melt in the next months \u2013 in Malta!!!, leaving me with an eyeliner puddle), glide easily on the waterline, are waterproof and have an enormous staying power.<\/p>\n

The pencils of NYX\u00a0<\/strong>are very similar, even in colour, so that I wonder if they are sourcing from the same factory \u2026 All characteristics of the Urban Decay pencils can be applied to the NYX pencils (I still feel that UD has richer colours). BUT<\/strong>!! NYX eyeliner pencils are divided into different kinds, which means that not all of them can be used on the waterline. In any case, those which are comparable to Urban Decay, also in colour, are again extremely creamy and long lasting. Colour range: 16 different shades.<\/p>\n

I used also pencils of KIKO. And with KIKO, you have even more kinds to choose from. Interesting in the case of KIKO is though, that I had the best result with a type of pencil which is declared for use on the outer lid (not on the waterline). It is surprising because it is the only pencil which achieves a perfect line ON the waterline! It is creamy (zero irritation) and VERY long-lasting. Available shades: 16, with different finishes (matte and pearl).\u00a0<\/p>\n

OH YES, I FORGOT: the different finishes are available also for the previously listed pencils!<\/p>\n

I included an eyeliner pencil from Dr Hauschka in a very beautiful colour, taupe, which is actually more grey than brown \u2026 ish \u2026<\/p>\n

I must confess that it feels less creamy than the previously named products. Still, it is available in 6 colours and provides a feelgood factor (since, you know, you are not plastering unknown and unnameable chemical substances on your eyes): the formulation combines mineral pigments with nourishing botanical ingredients such as anthyllis, quince wax and shea butter to soothe and moisturise for a silky soft finish.<\/p>\n

Aaand \u2026 it is basically all I wanted to say!<\/p>\n

Pink is M.A.C. Swish \u2013 Eyeliner Urban Decay Electric<\/p><\/div>\n

In the big picture on top, I am wearing \u2026 not the crown (any resemblance to the actual Statue of Liberty is purely coincidental) \u2026 an eyeliner pencil of Urban Decay in the colour Electric<\/strong>. Since the colour is quite bold, I only used it on the lower lashline. Eyes: lid: M.A.C. in Swish, Crease: Anastasia Modern Renaissance in Love Letters, Browbone: Anastasia Modern Renaissance in Vermeer.<\/p>\n

I chose pink shades because they counter the olive tones of my skin, lending an overall freshness, but if it is too bold for you, I am showing the same eyeliner colour with a neutral eye.<\/p>\n

Everything in Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette (again) but of course, another eyeliner. This time I used on the upper lashline Urban Decay RAZOR SHARP Water-Resistant Longwear Liquid Eyeliner in Deep End and the bottom waterline and lashline Urban Decay 24\/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Stash. They shouldn\u2019t match (Deep End is a cool teal and Stash an olive green) but they do!<\/span><\/p>\n

Eyeshadow Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette with UD Eyeliner Deep End and Stash<\/p><\/div>\n

Keep on mixing, you can use an all-over nude shade and still make your eyes pop out with a bold pencil colour!<\/p>\n

Since my eyes decided to take their leave from an almost completely brown hazel and move towards an almost completely green hazel I really have troubles finding THE shade to make my eyes stand out \u2026<\/p>\n

Colour wheel for green\/hazel eyes<\/p><\/div>\n

I know, you can google green\/hazel eyes and find that everything red is perfect for green since it is the opposite colour range in the colour wheel. Problem is, my eyes are not standing in an empty space, they are surrounded by skin. My skin is olive toned (yellowish???) and it DOESN\u2019T look great with brown or red hues, on the contrary, with them it looks more sallow and yellow (let\u2019s be honest: sickly \u2013 unless I pick a very cool red) \u2026<\/p>\n

The only colours which I have found to look good with both my eyes and skin hues are purple or, perversely, green \u2026<\/p>\n

That means: just try and find which colour suits you best! If you choose a neutral colour for your eye make-up (which can be a pinkish, yellowish, greyish or whatever nude), you can literally pick every existing colour for your eyeliner!<\/p>\n
